Night Out

Well, we did it.  We waited until Willow was seventeen months old, but we did it.  We went out.  We went to Arcadia.  I left while she was still awake and everything.

We had Toaster and RockNoodle's mom come over to the house, and stay here with Toaster and RockNoodle, so that Willow was in her space, with her people, and being  watched over by somebody who has not only raised two pretty great kids, but who managed to keep them alive while they were babies, and I know this for a fact, 'cause here they are.

So I was about as confident as I could possibly be about leaving Willow.

Didn't mean I wasn't a nervous wreck, having anxiety dreams the night before and texting constantly about a) how Willow was after I walked out the door, b) whether his mother had arrived yet, and c), that million dollar question, how did she go to sleep?

The answer was: perfectly fine.  It seems that Willow reserves her hell, no, I'm not going to bed attitude for her dad and me (which is an argument for having somebody new put her down to bed all the time)

I did not actually think about Willow the whole time.  It was, in fact, a thrill to be out, and wearing wacky things like perfume, and earrings, and a pretty dress--okay, a really pretty dress.  I made off with my mom's vintage-y black dress but I've never gotten to wear it and we never go out and so we overdressed.  Because we could.  I recommend it.

I loved hanging out with Willow and the rest of the crew. You rocked that dress -- you really looked beautiful -- and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I'll be happy to do it again, so keep that in mind.

I can totally relate! Destiny is almost 2 1/2 years old and has only been away from us for the length of church. I'm getting ready to go back to work.. This will be the first time she's been away from me for longer than 1-2 hours. I am very relieved about who'll be watching her for me tho. Still feeling very anxious about it..
