  1. Hello,
love your beautiful knitting book. I am a newbie knitter and I am knitting the Summer sky Blanket. I have cast on 96 stitches. How do I pick up and knit 97? for the border. I tried picking up twice in one stitch and of course that doesn't work. How do I increase a stitch when there are only 96? and it asked me to do 97?

  2. Hi there,

Yeah, that's a sneaky thing I did (you'll run into it sometimes). What you can do is kf&b into one of the stitches that you've picked up, or pick up an extra stitch between stitches on the blanket edge. It doesn't have to look perfect--the edging will cover it!

  4. I purchased the American version of your book - what to knit what you're expecting and am trying to work on the Sophie blouse. However I can't work out how to jump from row 7 to row 10 for 0-3 months and get 91 stitches. After doing row 10, I end up having 85 instead (109) in row 7. What am I misunderstanding ? I have 30 stitches from beginning to second marker, 25 in middle, and 30 from third marker to end... Please help...

  5. Autumn Leaves sweater p. 94 row 22. What does pssp mean? It is not in the abbreviations. Please answer me quickly as I am dying to finish the garment.

  6. Hi Lynn,

Pssp is a typo! It should be psso--Pass slipped stitch over.

  7. Hi, I have your book 'what to knit when you're expecting' and I am really confused with the scallop pattern on the bloomers. It reads:
    CO 4 sts.
Set up row: K to end.
    Row 1: k2, yf, k2, yf, k2. 6 sts.
If you add up the 'k2' in row one it equals 6 sts and you told me to CO 4. And if I add in the yf then it would actually end up with 8 sts. Can you clarify? Thanks

  9. Hi Corina,

Sorry about that! Yes, the first row of the scallop pattern should read:

    Row 1 of edging is: k2 (yf)2X, k2--6 sts.

Please check out the errata page http://www.whattoknitwhen.com/p/errata.html because you may well come across some other mistakes!

    Warmly,

    Nikki
